Getting started
Do I need an account to look around?
No. Anyone can browse the feed, search, and open listings and seller pages at app.udrop.co without signing up. You only need an account to buy, sell, make offers, message, save items or follow sellers. When you tap one of those, UDrop asks you to log in or create an account and brings you right back.
Who can use UDrop?
Anyone can create an account with an email address. Students can verify with their campus email, or by snapping a photo of their student ID, to earn a verified-student badge. Verification is optional; every account has full access.
Is there an app to download?
UDrop is a web app at app.udrop.co. Add it to your home screen from Safari or Chrome and it opens full-screen like an app.
Which campuses are live?
UDrop launches in waves, starting in Texas. See the Campuses page for what is live, in early access, and coming next.
My campus isn’t on UDrop yet. What can I do?
Request it from the Campuses page. Students and parents who ask are emailed the day it opens, and campuses with the most requests move up the list.
Browsing and finding things
Why do I see listings from every campus?
Without an account, UDrop shows the newest drops from every live campus so you can see what is out there, with the campus named on each card. Use the campus pill in the header to narrow it to one campus. Once you sign in, UDrop opens on your home campus.
How do I switch campus?
Tap the campus name in the header and pick another campus or All campuses. That choice lasts for the current visit only; the next time you open UDrop you are back on your home campus. Change your home campus from Profile.
Does search handle typos and other words for the same thing?
Yes. Fridge also finds refrigerator and mini fridge, couch finds sofa, and tv finds television. If the exact words find nothing, UDrop falls back to a spelling-tolerant match on titles, so a misspelling still finds the item. Put a phrase in quotes to search for it exactly.
Can UAssist find listings for me?
Yes. Ask the UAssist bubble something like Anyone selling a desk lamp at Texas? and it lists up to five matching live listings with price, campus and a link. If nothing matches it suggests a Wishlist alert.
What are nearby campuses?
In Search, choose Nearby campuses to include other live campuses within a radius of yours, 25 miles by default. Signed-in students can change the radius under Filters, and it is saved to their profile. Pickup is still local, so you would meet at or near the other campus.
How do I get alerted when something I want is listed?
Add it to your Wishlist: search for it and tap Alert me, or go to Saved and add an item with an optional category, maximum price and size. When a matching item is listed at your campus or a nearby campus, you get a notification and an email. Tap Alert me again to turn it off.
Can I follow a seller?
Yes. Tap Follow on a listing or on a seller’s page to see all of their drops in one place. You are notified when they list something new or lower a price.
How do clothing sizes work?
Save your sizes once under Profile, for shirts, pants and shoes. Clothing listings carry a size, and the My size chip in Search shows only items in your sizes. Wishlist items can be limited to a size too.
What are the # tags on listings?
Sellers can tag a listing with an organization, such as a fraternity, sorority, club or team, so members can find relevant items. Tap a tag to see everything with that tag at your campus.
Can I share a listing?
Yes. Copy the listing link or use Share. Listing links open for anyone, with a preview of the photo and price, and the person you send it to does not need an account to look.
Paying and getting paid
How do I pay?
Buyers pay by card inside UDrop through our secure payment partner. The money is held until you confirm pickup with your one-time code.
When does the seller get paid?
After the buyer confirms pickup. Your share, minus UDrop’s fee shown before publishing, lands in your UDrop Balance right away. Spend it on your next drop at checkout, or withdraw it to your bank.
How do I withdraw my balance?
Profile → Balance. Standard withdrawals are free and arrive in 1 to 3 business days. Instant withdrawals arrive within minutes for a small fee shown before you confirm, and need an eligible debit card or bank.
Can I pay with my balance?
Yes. At checkout your UDrop Balance is applied automatically to the total. If it covers everything, there is nothing to charge; otherwise you pay the rest by card. You can switch it off for any purchase.
How do invites and fee-free sales work?
Share your invite link from the app. When a friend joins on it and completes their first sale or purchase, your next sale is fee-free (up to $15) and so is their first sale. Details at udrop.co/invite.
What does UDrop charge?
Listing is free. Sellers pay 10% or $2.99, whichever is greater, only when an item sells. Buyers pay a small payment & service fee plus applicable sales tax, shown before they pay.
What if I change my mind before pickup?
Either side can cancel before pickup is confirmed. The buyer is refunded in full and the listing goes back on the market.
What if the item isn’t as described?
Inspect it before you enter your pickup code. If it is not right, do not confirm; cancel and you are refunded in full. Problems found after pickup go through Buyer Protection.
Selling and Smart Sell
What is SmartPrice?
A pricing helper that reads your item and condition and suggests Quick Drop, Recommended and Max Value prices with the reasoning. You choose the final price.
What is Smart Sell?
A seller sets a private minimum and a strategy. UDrop answers offers and counteroffers automatically and never accepts or counters below the minimum. Sellers can pause or take over any time. How Smart Sell works.
Does Smart Sell use AI to negotiate?
No. It follows fixed rules based on your floor, strategy and the offer history, enforced in the database.
My listing isn’t getting offers. What can I do?
From My listings, tap Bump to move it back to the top of the feed, free, once a week. Or tap Lower price: the card then shows the old price crossed out, and followers and anyone with a matching wishlist item are alerted. If a listing goes two weeks with no offers, UDrop sends you a nudge with a suggested price.
What happens right after I publish?
UDrop runs a quick automatic check that the item is allowed under the Terms. Most listings clear in seconds; My listings shows Checking while it runs. If the check is unsure, the listing shows Under review and stays hidden until a UDrop staff member looks at it, usually the same day. Approved listings go live with a notification; items that are not allowed move back to your drafts with the reason.
Where do my reviews show?
After a completed pickup, buyers and sellers can leave a star rating and a short comment. Your average appears on your listing cards and the latest written reviews appear on your public page, labeled From a buyer or From a seller. Reviewer names are not shown.
What does a tag do on my listing?
Add up to a few tags for organizations, such as KA or Women’s Rugby, when you list. Members searching that tag find your item first. Tags identify a community only; UDrop is not affiliated with any organization.
Your account
What is the weekly email?
Once a week on Sunday, students with email notifications on get one email with new drops at their home campus that match their Wishlist, new drops from sellers they follow, and a few picks based on their browsing and saved sizes. Nothing is sent if there is nothing new. Turn it off under Profile by switching off email notifications.
What is the Set up your UDrop card?
A four-step checklist on Home for new students: verify as a student, set up payouts, save your sizes, and list your first item. It disappears when the steps are done, or tap the X to hide it.
How do notifications work?
The bell in the app shows messages, offers, payments, pickups, wishlist matches, price drops and seller updates. The same events are emailed; turn email off under Profile if you prefer the bell only.
I forgot my password.
Tap Forgot password on the sign-in screen and follow the emailed link to set a new one. Passwords must be confirmed twice when you create or change them.
How do I log out?
Tap the log-out icon in the top right of the app. Signing in once keeps you signed in on both udrop.co and app.udrop.co until you log out.
How do I delete my account?
From Profile, choose Delete account. If you have completed sales, the records are kept anonymously as described in the Privacy Policy; everything else is removed.
Safety
Can I message outside UDrop?
No. Sharing phone numbers, emails, payment apps, or links is blocked in messages. Keeping everything on UDrop is what protects both sides.
How do I report a problem?
Use Report on any listing or conversation, or Block a user. Reports go to a moderation queue.
What can’t be sold?
Weapons, alcohol, drugs or paraphernalia, prescription medication, counterfeit or recalled goods, and anything illegal to sell in your state.
Where should we meet?
Public spots on campus for small items: the student union, a library entrance, a lobby. Furniture often means an apartment pickup, so go in daylight and bring a friend. Inspect before you confirm the pickup code.
